Phyllis G. Tortora


Sara Marcketti, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Apparel Program and also serves as the Associate Director for the scholarship of teaching and learning at the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, Iowa State University. Her work has appeared in over 50 peer reviewed journal articles and over 100 conference presentations. Marcketti's research interests include dress history, museum best practices, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. Her teaching and research has been recognized with university, department, and association awards, including the Pacesetter Award from the University of Georgia, the Rising Star Award from the International Textile and Apparel Association, and the Iowa State University Teaching Excellence Award. She is the president-elect of the Costume Society of America.

Pretty good if you’re needing it for a simple college course on the subject

Good book for my history of costume course, lots of pictures but some pictures were not detailed enough to show true information. Lots of drawings done, but could have used more actual photos of things from eras where cameras were in use. It’s an interesting book. Only real complaint is that it’s stupid heavy and bulky, making it super difficult to bring to Class and use..
